Sketch to Quilt art class
Beginners to Advanced

Discover yourself through creative expression as Desiree guides you through this
workshop. Join other women as they learn to let go of the fear and find the freedom to
express yourself through art. You do not have to have any art skills, I will walk you through
some secrets!!!

I am inviting you to an intimate workshop designed to awaken your creative juices. Come
and learn the basics about design, composition and drawing. This won't be just a lecture
it will be hands on exploration into teaching you how to start with a basic drawing and
translate it into a quilt or just get it onto fabric. We will be making small art quilt sized
paintings. Come and find the "artist" in you using text, images, color and your own
sketches. Does drawing scare you, let me help take the fear out of it as I explain drawing
basics. In this class we will be sketching, painting and designing from hands on
instructions so you have nothing to fear. We will select some of your sketches to paint
and transfer to fabric using the computer. We will discuss alternative ways to translate
ideas to paper to fabric for other art quilts. This class will help you find hidden treasures
and designs for quilts in places you never thought to look.

Art Appliqué
November 12, 2011
Do you love the look of appliqué but you don't love the time it
takes. Let me show you a fun and fast way to color your
appliqué quilted blocks. I will show you how to blend, select
colors, shade to achieve dimension. I will also show you how to
marbleize your fabric to create interesting, textural designs. No
more boring quilts when you can add  colored pencils,
watercolor pencils and others for added depth and details.
Even traditional appliquérs will like this method for adding tiny
details to their quilts. I will show you how to protect your piece

"Perfect Painted Poinsettias" - To be announced
This pattern is my original design; you will receive a pattern for the poinsettias in class.
You will be learning: Fabric painting techniques,Creating textured looks,Design and layout,Assembly

We will be painting our fabric first, while it is drying we will be discussing assembly and then preparing our fusible for our application
onto our fabric.  The first day we will be painting our fabric outside so please wear “play clothes” that you get dirty.  Since everyone
paints his or her own fabric each piece will turn out different and unique.  This is a wonderful introduction into fabric painting and
different sewing techniques. The base of the runner is very simple so we will be assembling it in class or as homework. You will be
creating this long wall hanging/table runner or you can create any size you like by adjusting the size of your background fabric and
border fabric.
Day Two will consist of fussy cutting petals and design layout, the importance of value and contrast. You should leave with an almost
finished piece.

you would like to use your photo, please email it to me so I
can approve the photo. Use your finished piece in quilts or
make a small art quilt or pillow, you will be thrilled at your
results. There will be a supply list so check with Ginger's.
