The challenge was to translate "Beneath the Surface".
For me, personally, this quilt represents the so called face
we put on for the public. Hiding the real issues that all of
us are dealing with underneath. It takes time, and
something more than a passing glance to see what really
lies beneath the surface of someone. This woman, drawn
in a life drawing class, haunted me with her look. I would
often look at her sketch and wonder what she was hiding
underneath. When I made the quilt I hid some words,
eight words dealing with issues that all of us have
probably dealt with in the past. Can you find the words,
can you look beneath the surface.
